I always appreciate new ways of introducing music. From the old fashioned way of DJs introducing the latest songs in clubs or radio to Trent Reznor leaving flash drives in bathrooms of South America for one of the last NIN albums. And then you have hip-hop moguls renting out planetariums. While that might be more suited for a Kenny Loggins light show, you understand we have many ways of being brought to new music and sounds.

Bruce Springsteen has a new single out. It’s making its rounds on radio, the internet and what have you. For hip-hop songs, Funkmaster Flex is usually the guy people like to play new music. Between the teasing of the record, bomb drops, the yelling, the multiple times he “brings it back”, it becomes an event in itself. Funk Flex wishes he knew “Mad Dog” Chris Russo. The perennial Bruce fan listened to the new single and enjoyed it thoroughly. He makes the event of listening enjoyable. Just to know a single song provides such a jovial response is enough to keep me interested. That’s the new way (which I think has been done on Youtube at times with fans of artists like The Weeknd). If Mad Dog could do a listening event, I’d throw down $20 just for the excitement factor.
