Was busy hosting my family last week for the Thanksgiving holiday. They’re from Florida and the idea of walking up and down subway stairs is enough to prevent them from sightseeing in NYC. Chinese food in Brooklyn is what they’ll remember most. My aunt even brought an order of shrimp toast back to Florida in the hopes of introducing it to the Chinese restaurant ecosystem down there. I nearly forgot there were a handful of above-average artists dropping tapes last week. OJ Da Juiceman with what seems to be his 2nd album in mixtape form. Gunplay was pushed back to early December, possibly due to nursing Rozay back to form. Hell Rell, one of my favorite Dipset members mainly for being a nice person, has some new material. And finally, Peedi Crakk. Now that I’m back to work after jogging away my Thanksgiving of gluttony, I’m very glad to hear Peedi over a Southside production. The rapid-fire lyricists seem to handle the Lex/Southside/808 Mafia productions best by simply keeping their rate high and not succumbing to the Ross or 2Chains telegram flow of “letting the beat breath”. This is only the first track off of Peedi’s tape and it was enough for me to share and type something on Tumblr about it being so damn cool.
